UKHRUL, MARCH 27 (MExN): The second day of the Naga Baptist Leaders Meet took place with a blend of spiritual activities, cultural performances, and significant discussions. The event, attended by various church leaders and dignitaries, focused on unity and collaboration within the Christian community, under the theme “One Faith, One Lord, One Baptism.”
A key highlight of the day was a musical performance by the NBCC Choir, represented by the Nagaland Conservatory of Music. The choir’s performance resonated deeply with the audience. Additionally, Lasai, the Assistant General Secretary of the Naga Baptist Convention in Myanmar, delivered a message to the gathering, extending warm wishes and emphasizing the importance of unity in Christ. Lasai also called for prayers for the ongoing political crisis in Myanmar, which has affected many Naga families, causing significant displacement and loss of life.

The morning service featured Dr Kethoser Kevichusa, Director of Baptist World Mission (BMS), who gave a sermon on the role of God in the missionary work. Dr Kevichusa highlighted the five essential marks of mission—evangelism, discipleship, compassion, justice, and stewardship of creation—and emphasized the importance of all believers engaging in God’s mission. He encouraged the attendees to view mission work not as optional, but as a command to be actively pursued.
In the afternoon, the cultural program showcased performances from various Naga communities, including the Khiamniungan, Konyak (Myanmar), Poumai, Sumi, and Tarao groups, as well as contributions from the Host Association, Phalee (TBCA), and Jessami (TBCA). The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Minister Khashim Vashum and MLAs Losii Dikho, Leishiyo Keishing, and J Kumo Sha. MLA Losii Dikho, in his address, highlighted the importance of peace and development, acknowledging that these goals require the guidance and support of the Church. He assured church leaders of the solidarity and support of the legislative body.
The evening service was marked by a sermon from Rev Talijungla Longkumer, APW of Ungma Baptist Church in Mokokchung, who spoke on the theme “Oneness in the Body of Christ.” Rev Longkumer emphasized that true unity among believers can only be achieved through the active practice of truth, as exemplified by Jesus Christ. She further noted that both tolerance and intolerance should be guided by Christ’s truth to ensure genuine oneness within the Christian community.
The event continues to foster spiritual engagement and collaboration among church leaders, while highlighting the shared commitment to mission and unity in faith.
