Mungya Village Christian Centennial Jubilee celebrated

Mungya village held its Christian Centennial Jubilee celebration (1923- 2023) on December 17 with the theme ‘Embracing a Century of God’s Faithfulness.’

Well wishers from native villages, in-laws and neighboring villages gathered to attend the centennial jubilee celebration at Munga local ground where Advisor for Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan delivered the Jubilee greetings and Rev LK Tsanglao, Pastor, Longsa Baptist Church delivered message to the gatherings.

The main speaker of the celebration, Rev LK Tsanglao, Pastor, Longsa Baptist Church expressed joy and praised God for giving him the opportunity to be part of this 100 years Jubilee. He elaborated on the meaning of the Jubilee theme ‘Embracing a century of God’s Faithfulness’ from the Bible, Psalms 119: 90. He reminded the gatherings that God is an unchanging God and the one who lead the way to this 100 years jubilee celebration. His love for us is an everlasting love and it will never change, the speaker maintained.

Taking reference from Lamentations 3: 22-23 the speaker reminded the gatherings about God’s immense love, mercy and faithfulness. He also highlighted God’s eternal nature from Mathew 24:35.

The speaker described that though it has been 100 years of Christianity, yet there still some whose hearts are not clean and called upon the members of the village to cleanse their hearts during this jubilee and urged them to be strong in faith.

Extending Jubilee Greetings on the occasions, Advisor for Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan congratulated Mungya Village on attaining 100 years of Christianity and reminded the gatherings that being part of this jubilee is a true blessing for everyone while conveying greetings on behalf of Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio and the Nagaland Government. 

In his speech, he reminded the gatherings of the hardships and challenges faced by the first converts and how with their endurance and constant prayer, it has enabled them to celebrate 100 years of Christianity. 

He also encouraged them to honour, respect and strive to live a better life remembering the good works as well the hardship the first converts went through. Last, he encouraged everyone to prioritize forgiveness as forgiveness reflects the true nature of Christianity.

The event concluded with a jubilee feast.
