Motorcycle rally commemorates 25th anniversary of Vijay Diwas in Kohima

The Assam Rifles in collaboration with motorcycle clubs and enthusiasts from Kohima, today organized a motorcycle rally to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Vijay Diwas, a day with historical significance commemorating India’s victory in the Kargil conflict.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from the Assam Rifles and the local community with KK Motors Kohima, Nagaland Motorcylce Club (Kohima Chapter) and Axor Club fielding in their participation, symbolizing a unified tribute to the valour and sacrifice of the Kargil heroes.

Gracing the event as the chief guest, Brig SK Palande, Deputy Inspector General (Assam Rifles – North), highlighted the indomitable spirit of the Indian Armed Forces and the sacrifices made during the Kargil War.

“The freedom we cherish today is owed to the courage and dedication of our soldiers. Each breath of free air we take is a testament to their sacrifice,” Brig Palande said.

He along with the parents of Capt Kenguruse, MVC (P) flagged off the rally from Kohima, setting the stage for a journey steeped in patriotism and respect for the fallen heroes.

The rally covered a distance of 24 km and culminated at the War Memorial of Captain Neikezhakuo Kenguruse, MVC (P) at Nerhema.

A solemn wreath-laying and homage ceremony took place, paying tribute to Captain Kenguruse, whose extraordinary valor and sacrifice continues to inspire.

At the conclusion of the rally at Chieswema, the civilian participants were felicitated by Brig JBS Rathi, DIG 5 Sector Assam Rifles. He expressed heartfelt gratitude for their spirit of adventure, patriotism, and commitment towards national integration.

Brig Rathi said that the motorcycle rally not only served as a reminder of the sacrifices made during the Kargil Conflict but also reinforced the enduring spirit of unity and patriotism among the citizens.
