Mon, March 12 (MExN): A textile expert from the Netherlands, Heijdenrijk Johana Maria (Pum Netherlands Senior Expert) and Aditee Chetia, a representative from India, visited Wangti, Chenloishu, Chenwetnyu villages under Mon district on March 8. The purpose of their visit was to explore investment opportunities in small scale industry especially in the field of textile, informed a press release on Saturday.
These villages are situated at the remotest corner of the Indo-Myanmar border under Mon district.
As per the press release, the border area people are experts in the field of weaving and knitting and the objective of the visit was to look for opportunities to invest and provide employment to the poor and needy women folk of the region, if there is a conducive environment.
International Border Organisation (SCMP) Nagaland president, Kohimong, Co-ordinator Shomwang Wangnao and Seemata Chetana Mancha Purvoter, Northeast In-charge Agur Gogoi and Hanry James joined the textile experts team. During the visit, they also reviewed and inspected the developmental activities that are being carried out along the Indo-Myanmar border area.
Both the teams were warmly welcomed by the villagers led by its village council chairman A Pongthra, Angh of the Wangti village and were briefed about the progress being made and also the condition of the rural people, the release stated.
