Mokokchung & Jorhat district admins resolve to maintain status quo

Mokokchung, July 17 (MExN): District administration officials of Nagaland’s Mokokchung district and Jorhat district in Assam held an ‘inter-district coordination meeting’ to discuss various issues along the inter-state border.

An update from the Nagaland DIPR informed that several pertinent issues including maintenance of peace and tranquility at the inter-state border of Mokokchung and Jorhat districts were discussed during the meeting which took place at the RK School Conference Hall, in Tuli. The meeting resolved to continue extending support and cooperation to each other in maintaining the status quo.

Mokokchung district was represented by Deputy Commissioner Shashank Pratap Singh, Superintendent of Police Aotula T Imchen, and Divisional Forest Officer Sentitula along with ADCs of Tuli and Mangkolemba, EAC Longchem, SDPO Tuli and SDPO Mangkolemba. From Jorhat district, DC AK Barman, SP Mohanlal Meena, DFO Nandkumaran, ADC Jorhat, Circle Officer Mariani, Circle Officer Teok, SDO (C), and SDPO Titabor attended the meeting, the DIPR stated.

According to the DIPR, the Mokokchung DC is said to have urged Jorhat district administration to refrain from taking unilateral actions which may aggravate tension and create a law and order situation along with the border. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Tuli ADC Shaying Sheau, it added.
