The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Mokokchung Region, in collaboration with the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), organised an ‘Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme’ on February 10 at the NDPP Office Conference Hall, Mokokchung. The event aimed to promote entrepreneurship development, highlight available schemes, and enhance financial literacy among aspiring entrepreneurs in the region.
Delivering the welcome address, Mangyangnungba, President of NDPP Mokokchung Region, emphasised the significance of entrepreneurship in fostering economic growth and self-reliance. He highlighted that one of the party’s most important priorities during the 2023 assembly elections was addressing unemployment in the state, which played a crucial role in their electoral success. He noted that the Chief Minister’s Micro Finance Initiative (CMMFI) is one of the two major flagship programs of the government, the other being the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS). While CMHIS has been a “success story” in the district, CMMFI faced challenges in its initial phase but has now been streamlined and made more accessible by the government. He encouraged party workers to raise awareness at the grassroots level about these flagship government programs.
Imchatoba Imchen, President of the NDPP Central Youth Organisation (CYO), delivered the keynote address titled “CMMFI: The Boon of Start-ups.” He stated that Nagaland ranks among the top five states in the country with the highest number of educated unemployed youths. He emphasized that government jobs are highly competitive, and only the best candidates, through rigorous examinations, can secure them. He noted that the startup initiative began in 2016 and acknowledged that CMMFI was a “total failure” in its early years but has since been streamlined by the government. He highlighted the NDPP CYO’s efforts in promoting and sensitizing people across the state about the initiative. He stressed the importance of party workers being well-versed in these programs to effectively educate the public.
He further stated, “Now, the system is completely streamlined and refined. If implemented genuinely, it will be a game-changer for the youth of the state, propelling Nagaland towards a new path of progress.”
The technical session on Entrepreneurship Development Schemes & Financial Literacy was conducted by the Center Manager of Swavalamban Connect Kendra (SCK), IDAN Mokokchung. The session provided insights into government-backed schemes, financial management strategies, and the significance of financial literacy. The Center Manager also addressed various queries and grievances raised by the gathering.
