Fazl Ali College conducts orientation programme for students

Mokokchung, March 27 (MExN): Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung conducted an orientation programme for students under the theme ‘be the change you want to see,’ at the college auditorium on March 25.

Speaking on the occasion, Aotula Imchen, SP, Mokokchung spoke on the topic ‘awareness on ragging and sexual harassment.’ She mentioned that “in and around Mokokchung, students in uniform seeking banned medications like anti-depressants are on the rise which is very alarming.”

and Publicity Cell, FAC in a press release said, the police officer highlighted the meaning of ragging and cited real life incidents and how it is so prevalent in most educational institutions even if it is banned by the GOI. She explained how such incidents can be identified, reported and even diffused within the institution itself and only if difficult to manage be reported to higher authorities. She touched on topics of sexual harassment and how to seek remedial measures from the law. Information

Dr Imcharenla, Convenor of the Discipline Committee reminded the students about the importance of discipline in a student’s life. The students were reminded of the rules and regulations pertaining to the college and how all the students should abide by it.

P Tiatemsu, Asst. Professor, Department of Botany highlighted the students on SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) which is an Indian Massive open online course (MOOC) platform. It is mandated by University Grant Commission and is an online portal to provide Online Education designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of Education Policy namely access, equity and quality.

SWAYAM is an effort to make the best teaching learning resources available to all by bridging the digital divide for students. The credits earned in the courses offered in SWAYAM are eligible for Academic Bank of Credit for students which can be redeemed for availing various academic degrees.

Dr Lendina, Librarian, informed the students about NDLIand N-LIST. NDLI (National Digital Library of India) is an all-digital library which stores information about different types of digital contents including books, articles, videos, thesis and any other relevant educational materials. It is a platform designed to make digital educational resources accessible to all and to empower, inspire and encourage learning.

National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content (N-LIST) is an online database catering to colleges in India. It contains electronic information resources like e-books, e-journals, etc. Both databases are available on all popular forms of access devices including Android and IOS platforms and is free, no amount is charged for accessing the e-library resource. It can be accessed from any computers and smart phones with proper internet connections.
