Over hundereds of inhabitants availed the health services provided by medical department at the medical camps held in Noklak and Nsunyu villages.
Charity screening camp for ear and hearing camp is underway at District Hospital, Noklak district sponsored by Banjung Aier and Dr. Obangjungla, Chief Medical Officer Longleng.
A press release by DMO, NHM Tuensang, Apheang stated that chief medical officer Dr. Obangjungla while delivering keynote address at a short launching programme said that they had planned to organise the hearing camp since last year and was happy that the plan has been executed in the district on February 23. CMO also emphasised more on early identification, diagnosis and treating saying that hearing loss is preventable. According to WHO, over 5% of the World population has hearing disability, where by 2050, one in every four individuals or around 2.5 billion people in the World will experience mild to profound hearing loss.
Dr. Obangjungla said that during one of the health camps at Thanamir in Kiphire district years ago, she met a girl in her thirties who could not hear for 15 years and when the doctor examined her, the problem was the ear wax blocking both of her ears. After medications and syringing the wax was removed and she could hear.
CMO said that, that incident made her think that the society needs to do something for the people with hearing impairment. Dr. Obangjungla also thanked principal director Dr. Neikhrielie Khimiao, Health and Family Welfare Welfare, Kohima for deputing Dr. Sakuyuba Imchen ENT specialist District Hospital Dimapur and Audiometrist at the camp.
Dr. Skuyuba Imchen, ENT Specialist delivered a short speech on the importance of ‘Ear and Hearing and Safe Listening’.
Short speeches were delivered by DC and SP Noklak, senior District Education Officer, Noklak, Nyanbemo Humtsoe and Communication Officer, John Snow India, Rose.
Earlier, the programme chaired by Dr. Victor Lam, SMO District Noklak began with an invocation by pastor Pinglang, Longdon Baptist Church Noklak Town. The programme was attended by Church leaders, ward presidents, public leaders and staffs from Noklak District Hospital.
Nsunyu village: A total of 110 inhabitants were provided medica facilities at the medical camp held on February 22.
According to CMO, Kohima, Dr.Vezokholu Theyo during the camp the new Sub Centre at Nsunyu village was also inaugurated.
Theyo said that the medical camp was conducted by Chief Medical Officer, Kohima along with District Health Society, Department of Health & Family Welfare, NHM.
During the camp, ICTC screenings were also provided while dental procedure, medicine specialist screening, AYUSH consultation, immunization, eye screening etc were also conducted.
Lab test with free medicines and distribution of IEC materials were also provided to the beneficiaries.
Former Mission Director, (NHM) Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Khanlo Magh expressed gratitude to the medical team.
Meanwhile, Dr. Theyo urged the gathering to avail the services and part take in various group discussion for a healthy life style.
