Make Phek district free from HIV, drug abuse: Dr. Kaur
Kohima, November 18 (MExN): Phek Superintendent of Police Dr. Pritpal Kaur, IPS, launched Link Workers Scheme to support People Living with HIV/AIDS at Phek on November 16.
In her address, she highlighted the high prevalence of HIV/AIDS in Nagaland and emphasized the need for collective efforts from civil society organizations, NGOs, and government departments to address the issue.
She stressed the importance of prevention, timely diagnosis and ART.
Dr. Kaur also pointed out that individuals at higher risk, such as drug addicts, migrants, and others, require focused attention.
She further discussed the HIV Act of 2017, which protects people living with HIV (PLHIV) from discrimination, and urged all stakeholders to work together to make Phek a district free from HIV and drug abuse.
Kuduvo Kezo, DPO Disha, shared an overview of NACP (National AIDS Control Program) and NACO (National AIDS Control Organization) guidelines related to the Link Workers Scheme.
