KTSU holds 29th session and felicitation ceremony in Kiusam

KIUSAM, JANUARY 3 (MExN): The Kiusam Town Students’ Union (KTSU) conducted its 29th Session, a combination of a literary event and a felicitation ceremony on December 29-30. On the occasion, Sudanvito Justin, a standout achiever who successfully passed the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) examination was also felicitated.

Sudanvito, who hails from the Tikhir Tribe, shared his heartfelt gratitude during the ceremony. He expressed his deep appreciation for the prayers and support he received from both his community and the church during his student days. 

Recalling his time as a student, he emphasized the importance of spiritual blessings, stating that every time students returned home for holidays, they were prayed over by church members. He credited these blessings for helping him persevere through challenges and ultimately achieve his goal of passing the NPSC after four years of hard work.

“In moments of struggle, I was tempted to give up,” Sudanvito admitted. “But it was the blessings and encouragement of my community that kept the fire within me burning to continue my studies.” He urged the students present to transform their own struggles into positive opportunities for growth.

The ceremony also featured an address by the guest speaker, Rev. Fr. Thomas Toretkiu, the priest-in-charge of St. John Kiusam Church. Fr. Toretkiu’s speech revolved around the theme ‘Study Quality, Not Quantity.’ He emphasized the need for students to focus on quality study habits rather than quantity, stressing that a focused mind, self-discipline, and prioritizing quality over quantity were key to academic success. 

He also highlighted the importance of creating a conducive environment, managing time effectively, maintaining good health, and understanding the depth of subjects over merely covering breadth.

Earlier, the program began with a prayer led by Women Pastor KTBC, followed by a welcome address from Shahoto T, President of the KTSU. Several other prominent speakers took the stage, including LY. Tokim, President of TBGsA; Thangpong, Head GB; Khesang, Public Leader; T. Lintsushi, Former General Secretary of KTSU; and. Kheapong. Their speeches celebrated the achievements of the students and encouraged academic excellence in the community.

The event featured cultural performances, including special songs and choreography, adding a festive atmosphere to the occasion. Prizes were distributed to winners of various competitions, showcasing the talent and creativity of the youth in Kiusam Town. The program concluded with a mass prayer.
