Kohima: New Reserve Colony citizens with MLA Rhütso initiate repair road

Localities in New Reserve Colony along with the help of the MLA has come together to repair road that has been neglected more than a decade and clean drainage and sideways of the National Highway passing along the colony for safety and visibility. 

A particularly busy road stretch not only for the colony dwellers but the road, about a kilometre leads to an important hub of police department. However, it has been left in pathetic condition for over a decade causing inconvenience to the public. 

Speaking about the initiative to repair the road, New Reserve Colony Chairman, Vikehiekho Kintso said the initiative had started when the newly elected MLA, Dr Tseilhoutuo Rhütso volunteered to provide material, tools and machineries where soiling and metaling could be done.

 

 

The said road leads to police personnel quarter including high ranking officers, schools like the Nagaland Police Central School (NPCS), police garage and Trinity School and police personnel also resides with their families to mention a few. 

Earlier, metalling and clearing of the stretch of road and clearing of drainage were redressed. 

The drive also saw about 400 people from the colony to clear sideways of the National Highway for more visibility and safety. Among the participants, were personnel from DEF Kohima, INT and Phq staffs residing at Police Reserve led by Deputy SP (R) Kohima, Jhonny M Patton.

According to an official of the MLA, Rhütso has adopted a mission to keep and ensure the State capital, Kohima a “Zero Pothole Road.”
