Kohima, April 18 (MExN): Kohima College celebrated its 56th social parting with Kegwayhun Tep, President, Naga Students’ Federation as guest speaker at the college courtyard on April 15.
Addressing the 360 outgoing students, Tep said, “the hope was for them to be an asset but the danger existed of them becoming a liability instead,” stated a DIPR report. Tep said they would face the problem of employability as unemployability of the Naga youth remained the highest among all Indian States.
For him, that intractable problem faced by most graduates from Nagaland was two-fold—firstly the Naga tendency to only considers government jobs and secondly, the non-transparency of the job recruitment process for the majority of the jobs in the government sector. He cautioned about the risk of depression, frustration, suicidal tendencies, etc.
He concluded by pointing out that problems of unemployability and mental instabilities can be fought by the youth fighting against prejudices and coming out of their comfort zones. The youth must “weigh themselves” and know their worth as they go forth into their uncertain future and they must endeavor to make their lives meaningful and respectable to society.
