Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire said that parents should encourage youth to get into rightful avenue instead of running for government jobs.
He said this while addressing the 27th biennial meet of the Kohima Village Gazetted Officers’ Association (KVGOA) held Wednesday at Duolhou Garden Kohima.
He also stressed on the need to support and help each other instead of criticizing.
He further encouraged the KVGOA members to continue meeting and participating in all activities in order to build better relationships.
Secretary finance and PWD, Kesonyü Yhome, who spoke at the meeting said the state financial position was running in deficit and getting from bad to worst but has not gone overdraft yet.
He said that Nagaland solely depends on the Centrally Sponsored Scheme for cash management but the norms have become strict and financial management has also become difficult.
However, he said the situation was not alarming but to understand the state’s financial position as the state being a salaried economy with no industries or major business to generate revenue.
Reminding that government jobs have reached saturation point, Yhome said unemployed youths should opt for skill development especially in various sectors as it will help them earn more than government employees and improve the economy.
He also expressed concern on water supply and traffic, the two major issues in the state capital, and said that a committee will have to take up the matter with the government.
Yhome further urged the KVGOA to make documentation and digitally archive the farming, adopt schools and health centres to make it a model and also revive the Morung concept during vacations for the youngsters.
Earlier, presidential note was presented by KVGOA president, Dr.Vizole Suokhrie while general secretary Peter Phewhuo and treasurer Neivotuo Keyho presented the secretary and treasurer report respectively.
A new team of office bearers was also inducted which will be led by Medozhalie Pienyü as president, Kethosituo Sekhose as vice president, Er. KetuovizoTseikha as general secretary and RuoosazoSachü as treasurer for the term 2022-2025.
Currently KVGOA has 405 registered members under the association.
