Khamo proposes translation of policies & central schemes into mother tongue

Nagaland’s CAWD & Taxes advisor, Kudecho Khamo today proposed that all the important government policies and the name of the schemes extended by the central government should be translated into “our mother tongue.” Khamo strongly felt that this will enable the general public to know the meaning and purpose of the schemes better.

He also felt that such step will ensure the successful implementation of the various policies and schemes of the central government.

Khamo said this while addressing the general conference of Chokri Chakhesang Literature Board (CCLB) on May 19 at Pfutsero in Phek district.

He made a fervent appeal to the public to extend full support and co-operation to the state government led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for all round development.

He also encouraged the rural people to be proactive and avail various schemes and facilities as most of the government schemes are basically designed to uplift rural areas.

Uphold social norms
Khamo said the Chakhesangs are endowed with rich culture and traditions and called upon the people to uphold and follow social norms and maintain peace and harmony. “Today, Christianity and education has taught us to be better but our most valued culture and traditions continue to diminish,” he lamented and stressed on the need to retrospect and revive the traditional values of being honest and hard work by holding Christian faith deeper and stronger.

Khamo also appreciated the vision and efforts of the CCLB towards promotion of Chokri literature.

He also maintained that the state government has been encouraging the usage of mother tongue over the years. With the introduction of certificate course, students can study our mother tongue and get job, he maintained.

The conference was chaired by CCLB vice chairman, Vechisa Venuh while keynote address was delivered by CCLB chairman, Ariyi Nienu. Rev Velacuyi Khamo, Pfutsero Town Baptist Church pastor invoked God’s blessing while Thüküvelü Sakhamo and friend presented a folk song. Vote of thanks was proposed by CCLB joint secretary, Lhüvesayi Lohe.

Later, Zhovehu Lohe, Convenor, Board of Advisor CCLB and Nuveta Khesoh, Member Diploma Certificate Committee CCLB talked on ‘The need & importance of mother tongue’ and ‘Progress & status of Chokri Literature works’ respectively at the business hour.

CCLB general secretary (Tec) Dr Mudongoi Rhakho moderated the business hour.
