Kejaroko Pieru from Nagaland received the prestigious ‘Best Ecological Entrepreneur Award’ at the 18th Annual International Eco-Tourism & Sustainable Tourism Conference & B2B Networking event and the 3rd Eco-tourism Award Ceremony held in Luxor, Egypt on September 9.
This is an annual event of the International Eco-Tourism Society (TIES). It was held from September 8 to 10.
Pieru is the founder and CEO of Pier Tours from Nagaland. He is also the president of Nagaland Association of Tour Operators (NATO), based in Kohima. “It came to me as a big surprise,” he told The Morung Express.
This is one of its first kinds probably from Nagaland and North East India, that an entrepreneur, especially from the tourism sector has been invited by an international organisation such as TIES.
“I believe that this milestone will motivate our government to give more attention to develop tourism and also encourage the local tourism stakeholders,” Pieru said.
