The Jo Foundation Inclusive School Kohima today celebrated Parents’ Day cum Cultural Show at State Academy Hall, Kohima. Gracing the occasion as the special guest, Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) chairman Theja Meru maintained that the values that Jo Foundation Inclusive School embodies “are a source of inspiration for us all. They are values that transcend borders, beliefs, and backgrounds.”
“It is essential that we appreciate individual differences. Each child under the care of this institution is unique, with their own set of talents, challenges, and attributes,” Meru said.
“It is through these differences that we find the true beauty of humanity. We must take the time to recognize and celebrate the distinctive qualities that make each child special,” he said,
He said that Specialy-abled people should never be seen as anything less than first-class citizens. “As we are all created in God’s image, it is our moral duty to ensure that every individual is treated with respect, care, and equal opportunity.”
Meru also encouraged and appreciated the parents who choose to send their children to inclusive schools. “Your decision is a powerful testament to your support for inclusivity and your belief in the strength that diversity brings to the educational experience. Your commitment is deeply appreciated and essential to the success of this mission,” Meru said.
Stigma can be a significant barrier to inclusive education, and it is our collective responsibility to continue creating awareness and dispelling any negative perceptions that may still surround it. This awareness-building effort will pave the way for a more inclusive and accepting society, Meru said.
Highlighting the transformative power of music and the arts in the lives of the students, he said “These creative outlets not only nurture talent but also provide a means of expression and connection.”
To music and arts enthusiasts, Meru encouraged them to pursue their passions with dedication and enthusiasm.
He said that Jo Foundation Inclusive School is a beacon of hope and a testament to the power of inclusivity and compassion. “It is a place where children are accepted, appreciated, and empowered to reach their full potential.” he said. Let us continue to work together to create a more inclusive, compassionate, and harmonious world, he added.
