Jal Utsav launched in Kiphire district

KIPHIRE, NOVEMBER 7 (MExN): The inaugural program of the launching of Jal Utsav was held with Deputy Commissioner Kiphire, Temsuwati Longkumer as special guest at DPDB Hall Kiphire on November 6.

In his speech, Deputy Commissioner Kiphire, Temsuwati Longkumer said that Jal Utsav is being implemented in 20 aspirational district/blocks in the state in partnership with National Jal Jeevan Mission, Development of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti to create awareness and sensitivity towards water management, conservation and sustainability.

The DC said that community participation and protection of water resources is very important, and there is a need to initiate activities like water asset cleaning, trees plantation, student led awareness programs and community pledges to inspire responsible water use and conservation.

Department of Water Resources and Public Health Engineering Department featured their success work presentation in the program. Executive Engineer, PHED, Er Akokba Sair delivered the welcome address, while Tethuvo spoke on the success story of JJM, and how the public have benefited from the scheme so far.
Longdiba L Sangtam, ADC administered the oath taking pledge and vote of thanks was proposed by EAC Takatemjen Pongen. The program was attended by Nyayaipam A.  Shimray, State Young Professional, Nagaland.
