The Directorate of Information Technology & Communication, Nagaland today honoured its Principal Secretary to Government of Nagaland, K D Vizo for achieving the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
Vizo completed the PhD on “Role of Information Communication Technology and citizen centric services on socio-economic development in Nagaland.”
Speaking on the occasion, Vizo expressed hope that the thesis would inspire many young minds to pursue their dreams especially in the field of research and technology which are still at its nascent stage in Nagaland.
Saying that the options and opportunities available are vast and varied, he opined that “we only need to persevere and be dedicated in our effort to consistently work and not tire when hurdles come our way”.
Information technology has revolutionized the world while it is not different in Nagaland, and in years to come it will only progress, he said.
IT has penetrated every aspect of human life, be it at home, work places, schools, businesses, citizen centric services, socio economic development, etc, he said.
Vizo therefore encouraged the young people of Nagaland to pursue further studies and research in this sector keeping in mind the varied opportunities they have in this field whether locally, nationally or globally.
Meanwhile, expressing that it is a great honour at the same time a humbling moment for him to have gained PhD, Vizo conveyed indebtedness to the officials and staff of the IT Department for their cooperation and support in accomplishing the thesis.
During the course of research, Vizo said, he gained the tools and knowledge to effectively use research to bring about reforms in the society and how best to tackle a range of important issues and the disparities that prevail in the society with the use of technology.
The Principal Secretary also handed a copy of the thesis to Director IT&C, Er Tongtiliba Longkumer for future reference of the department.
Additional Director Er Sabou Yashu chaired the programme while Joint Director Asano Mor proposed vote of thanks.
