Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, OCT 30 (NPN) : Advisor for industries and commerce, labour and employment, skill development and entrepreneurship, Imnatiba Jamir Saturday stressed on the need to preserve one’s culture and tradition so that their roots were not forgotten.
Speaking as the special guest at the 4th annual general meeting of the Dimapur Ao Youth Organization (DAYO) at IMC Hall, Dimapur, Imnatiba pointed out that Nagas should also be open to learn about the culture, tradition of others.
Above all, he called upon the gathering to carry forward the legacy of our forefathers.
Imnatiba said that the advent of Christianity and the introduction of modern education played a crucial role in the Naga society and also the Naga movement, adding that it was also important to incorporate history about the Naga society in the school curriculum.
While encouraging the youth to not only focus on getting government jobs, the advisor said there was enormous scope of entrepreneurship in the state.
Meanwhile, on the occasion the new team of DAYO office bearers were also installed for the tenure 2021-24, which will be headed by Tiatemsu Longchar as president and I Mangyang Jamir as general secretary.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by incumbent DAYO president Aotemsu Aier, Nukmen Baptist Arogo pastor Kilang pronounced the invocation.
Short speeches were also delivered by Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur president, Meren Longchar and advisor DAYO, R. Temsuwati.
Renowned singer, Sunep Lemtur presented a special number while benediction was offered by Rongpangmen Baptist Arogo pastor K Meren Jamir.
