Imnatiba launches ‘clean Kohima’ campaign

DIMAPUR , July 22: Advisor for industries & commerce, Imnatiba, who is also in-charge of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDDP) youth launched the “clean Kohima” campaign at old MLA hostel junction on July 21, initiated by NDPP central youth organisation.

In his brief address, Imnatiba said that the human race was going through a dark period due to the pandemic and that it called for maintaining a cleaner environment and better hygiene.

Quoting the maxim “cleanliness is next to Godliness”, he said that during the pandemic, the people should continue cleanliness activities, disinfect homes and colonies.

He also lauded NDPP youth for collaborating with the public health engineering department to carry forward the cleanliness initiatives while also appealing all to join hands.

NDPP youth president, Kelhouneizo Yhome said cleanliness was a necessity for good health and through the campaign, the NDPP youth would not only focus on Kohima but would carry forward the same in other parts of the state.

Meanwhile, WSSO HRD consultant of PHED, Thenusou Sekhose said PHED as the nodal implementing department for Swacch Bharat was joining the prime minister’s call for azadi ka amrit mohatsav – commemorating 75 years of independence.

She informed that a series of events were being organised while PHED would be conducting various activities including mass movement to promote sanitation and hygiene across the state till August 15, 2023.

She also informed that rural Nagaland attained Open Defecation Free (ODF) status in 2018 with support from all but now, the state must strive towards achieving ODF plus status as sanitation and hygiene played a crucial role during the pandemic.

The campaign was carried out at CRPF Camp Lerie to old MLA hostel by Southern Angami-I & II, police check gate to old MLA hostel by Western Angami; Tinpatti junction-D block-old MLA junction by 9-Kohima Town, Tinpatti junction-Sonürü-CM bungalow by Northern Angami-I & II.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by NDPP youth secretary in-charge Kohima youth region, Vichosel Rhütso while evangelist, Koinonia Prayer Centre, Neilhou Sopfünuo said the invocation.

The programme was also attended by advisor for urban development and municipal affairs Dr Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire and advisor for youth resources and sports, Zale Neikha.
