DIMAPUR, November 28 : State chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Saturday called upon the elected members to take ownership and identify indigenous person during the certification process of Register of Indigenous Inhabitant of Nagaland (RIIN) to avoid mistakes as it was a sensitive issue.
According to a DIPR report, Rio said this while addressing the Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Day out cum pre-Christmas programme held at Dzüü Resort at Rüsoma.
Rio further called upon the officers posted in the state capital to contribute not only for their departments but to contribute towards all round development of the capital town.
Besides taking more part in various activities, Rio also said that the officers should render their services in whatever way possible for the development and to keep the capital city clean.
While congratulating the Kohima DPDB for the services rendered towards welfare of the district, Rio also suggested holding competition on cleanliness drive amongst the colonies and wards.
With Kohima Smart City project in place, Rio stressed on the need to have proper sanitation and to ensure cleanliness of the whole district including the villages.
In view of the festive season and Hornbill Festival approaching, Rio urged the gathering to approach churches, individual homes, business centers/shops to light up the city with Christmas stars and lights giving positive message to welcome tourists and dwellers “to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
He further asked all officers to attend the inaugural programme of the Cultural Hall near NSF Martyrs Park on December 1.
Choir competition: Rio also informed that in other to promote singing, a choir singing competition would be held on December 8 and 9, with a total prize money of Rs. 5 lakhs. He also said that churches have been invited to participate. The last date for entry is December 7.
Advisor of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry and Women Resources Development, R. Khing also spoke on the occasion while advisor Technical Education and Election, Medo Yhokha chaired the programme. CMO Kohima, Dr. Vezokholu Theyo said the invocation prayer while vote of thanks was proposed by ADC Kohima, N Bhavani Sri followed by Christmas gift exchange among the members.
Meanwhile, legislature and administration team led by chief minister won the exhibition volleyball match played against DPDB team.
Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire; advisor Youth Resources & Sports Zale Neikha and NPF legislator Keneizhakho Nakhro also attended the programme.
