Hornbill Festival 2022 starts today

The much awaited 23rd edition of Hornbill Festival of Nagaland will start from December 1 at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama.

Jagdeep Dhankhar, Vice President of India will grace the inaugural programme at 4:00 pm at Kisama.

Prof Jagdish Mukhi, Governor of Nagaland will be the chief host while Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will be the host.

H Khehovi Yeputhomi, Advisor Tourism and Art & Culture will be the festival host. Yekhiisii Tureng from Porba village of Phek district will be the tribal guest.

The honoured guests for Day-1 will include Emmanuel Lenain, Ambassador of France to India, Alan Gemmell, Trade Commissioner for South East Asia and British Deputy High Commissioner for Western India and Barry O’ Farrell Ao, Australian High Commissioner to India.

The inaugural function will be followed by cultural presentation entitled “This is Nagaland.”

Organized by Government of Nagaland, the Hornbill Festival showcases Nagaland’s deep rooted traditions and its rich cultural heritage in all its ethnicity, diversity, and grandeur.

The festival is also a tribute to the great “Hornbill”, which is an admired and revered bird for the Naga people, for its qualities of alertness and grandeur.

The Hornbill Festival of Nagaland is a cultural extravaganza to revive, protect and preserve the richness and uniqueness of the Naga heritage, while for the guests, it is an opportunity to get a comprehensive understanding of the Naga people, their land, and the rich culture.

The festival will continue till December 10.

Online Taxi Bookings

The Transport Department, Government of Nagaland, has informed that inorder to facilitate smooth travel of passengers during the Hornbill Festival 2022, the Government has identified additional 100 four wheeler taxis and 50 two wheeler taxis with Drivers information, registered in the Go-Taxi Service App for online taxi bookings. The passengers may avail of this facility through the Go-Taxi App available in Google Playstore.

Jio to provide free Wi-Fi 

Jio, the official media partner of the Hornbill Festival 2022, will be providing free wifi service to all visitors during the Hornbill Festival at Kisama Heritage Village from December 1 to 10.  In addition, Jio will be providing high speed internet broadband at the Media Felicitation Centre at Kisama including dedicated line for live streaming and CCTVs for security alert at the Media Centre. To access the free wifi one can switch on Wifi on their devices and select ‘Jio-Wifi. Enter mobile number and generate OTP, enter the OTP and start browsing.
