DIMAPUR, JULY 15 (MExN): The Department of School Education has rolled out the pilot for Teachers Attendance Monitoring System (TAMS) under NECTAR project.

A press release from the department said that one of the major components of NECTAR is to enhance the governance of schools across the state and TAMS is a crucial mechanism for realizing this goal. TAMS aims to provide schoolteachers, leaders and every staff of the Department of School Education with advanced software and hardware tools to ensure accurate and timely reporting of daily employee attendance and effective leave management. To achieve this, TAMS will leverage facial recognition technology for reliable person identification, complemented by location and time stamping functionalities.

TAMS will simplify the process of reporting employee attendance, ensuring that it is efficient, reliable, and accessible to all educational institutions in Nagaland. This system will eliminate the need for manual record-keeping and reduce administrative burdens.

By incorporating facial recognition technology, TAMS will ensure accurate verification and authentication of all categories of employees serving in GPS, GMS, GHS and GHSS. This advanced technology will eliminate the possibility of proxy attendance and enhance data integrity.

The department informed that TAMS will provide real-time monitoring of employee attendance, enabling school leaders and relevant authorities to promptly address any attendance-related issues and take necessary actions.

The system will capture and record the location and time of each employee’s attendance, providing an additional layer of verification and authentication. This feature will enhance accountability and transparency in the Department of School Education.

NECTAR aims to develop TAMS as a scalable and user-friendly solution, ensuring that it can be easily implemented across educational institutions in Nagaland. Adequate training and support will be provided to facilitate a smooth transition to the new system.

By implementing the Teacher Attendance Monitoring System (TAMS), NECTAR intends to foster a culture of punctuality, accountability and dedication within school education in Nagaland. This technology-driven approach is expected to not only improve the efficiency of attendance management but also contribute to the overall enhancement of classroom teaching and resource allocation.

Even as the state-wide physical verification and authentication drive of all categories of employees under the department is underway, the department has decided to start the Pilot from the Directorate of School Education. The authentication and capturing of master selfies of all employees led by the Principal Director, DoSE and Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha was carried out on July 14. TAMS is expected to go live all over the state in September 2023.
