Governor, CM, others greet on Teachers’ Day

DIMAPUR, SEP 4 (NPN) : On the eve of Teachers’ Day, Nagaland governor RN Ravi, chief minister Neiphiu Rio and others have extended greetings to teachers of the State on Friday. The state government has cancelled this year’s state-level celebration of Teachers Day in view of seven-day state mourning announced by the centre as a mark of respect to former President of India Pranab Mukherjee, who passed away on August 31, 2020.

Gov: In a message, the governor expressed his heartfelt gratitude and good wishes to all the teachers for their lifetime of dedication and commitment to the great cause of educating “our youth.” He remarked that teachers have made outstanding contributions in building the society by shaping students’ personalities and making them ideal citizens of the country. He said they guide and inspire people – both young and old – and executing the responsibility of creating awareness as well as opening the mind of people by instilling good values, morals and ethics.

As a society, Ravi said “our goal” must be to create good citizens who are capable of preserving the good of the past and creating a better future, adding that in this regard the influence of teachers remained with the students for a lifetime.

Observing that the extraordinary pandemic situation has created an unprecedented scenario and challenges for teaching, he said the teachers who feel inhibited by technology would have to learn online teaching and class management. He pointed out how the world was adjusting to the new normal of distant teaching and learning.

CM: In his message, chief minister Neiphiu Rio extended warm greetings to the teaching community of Nagaland on the occasion of Teachers’ Day that commemorates the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India and a distinguished philosopher, educationist and a teacher par excellence.

He said teaching, though very challenging, is one of the noblest professions and does not merely involve the process of teaching a child from books but also of inculcating moral values and life skills. He added that the impact of a teacher on a child lasts a lifetime.

Mentioning that the relationship between a teacher and his pupil in the country has always been sacred since ancient times, Rio said teachers have been always held in high esteem.

As the whole world struggles with COVID-19 pandemic, he observed that the role played by teachers has also undergone a paradigm shift as teachers have been compelled to use various communications tools to reach out to students and impart education.

“As teachers face these new challenges, I exhort them to keep themselves updated with the latest technologies, information and teaching techniques so as to better meet the high expectations of the students,” the message read.

The chief minister also called for acknowledging the tireless efforts and sacrifices of all teachers, whom he wished good health, joy, peace and successful.

Dy. CM: State deputy chief minister Y Patton has extended greetings to all teachers past and present on the special occasion of Teachers’ Day.

In his message, Patton said that teachers, who were responsible for shaping the future of every student, needed to be respected and honoured.

Describing teaching as the noblest profession, Patton encouraged the teachers to put in their best efforts in imparting value-based quality education despite these ongoing difficult situations. Patton saluted all the teachers and wished them good health.

Imna Along: Minister higher & technical education and tribal affairs Temjen Imna Along saluted all the teachers on the auspicious occasion of Teacher’s Day’ and prayed that God Almighty bless them more for all the selfless services and sacrifices rendered towards building a better future for all.

In his message, Imna Along said a society and nation thrive and flourish under the guidance of good teachers, adding that “this is the very reason why teachers are called the backbone of a Nation.”

He said that the best gift that the teachers can ever give to the society and the nation was to impart quality education to the young minds.

Sukhalu: Advisor school education K Tokugha Sukhalu has extended greetings to all the teachers of Nagaland on the occasion of Teachers Day Celebration 2020 and also congratulated the state teacher awardees.

In his message, Sukhalu lamented today for the first time after India started celebrating Teachers’ Day, the celebration was without the presence of teachers and students amidst COVID pandemic. He said the celebration was also low key as the state joined the Nation in mourning the death of the former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee.

Sukhalu said COVID-19 pandemic has ushered in many challenges, but maintained that “we must seek out opportunities to learn new things and adapt to new circumstances.” The pandemic, he said has changed the way “we live, think and work”, adding that those changes were “most palpable in the field of education.”

NSF: Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) extended greetings to all the teachers across the Naga inhibited areas on the occasion of Teachers’ Day celebration 2020.

In a statement, NSF president Ninoto Awomi and secretary education Kegwayhun Tep expressed gratitude to the teaching fraternity for having shown exemplary resilience during this COVID-19 pandemic. NSF appreciated the efforts and hard work put in by the teachers, despite lockdown measures and other technological constrains, to adapt with the continuous cycle of education by keeping students engaged with their academic and other educational activities.

The federation also acknowledged the “invaluable contribution” of teachers to student community and towards the society. NSF wished all the teachers success in the pursuit of all their noble endeavours.
