Frontier Nagaland demand: ENSF announces ‘walkathon’ on Oct 7

Tuensang, September 21 (MExN): To strengthen the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization’s (ENPO) resolution to abstain from participating in any State or Central election process till its demand for a separate ‘Frontier Nagaland’ state is met, a ‘Mass Public Walkathon Movement’ will be held on October 7.

A decision to this effect was taken during an ‘Emergency Federal Assembly; called by the Eastern Naga Students Federation (ENSF) on September 20, according to a press release.
During the session which was held at Anatongre village under Shamator district, the Federation and tribunals with seven federating units had a lengthy deliberation over the ENPO’s August 26 resolution and chalked out plans for the first phase of agitation with immediate effect, it said.
The October 7 walkathon will be held in all the administrative headquarters within the ambit of Eastern Nagaland. Accordingly, the seven tribal federating units of ENSF—Chang Wedoshi Setshang, Konyak Students Union, Khiamniungan Students’ Union, Phom Students’ Conference, Tikhir Student’ Union, United Sangtam Students’ Conference, Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako— have been endorsed to, “amalgamate village level cluster in respective tribal jurisdiction to embark the movement,” the ENSF Secretary for Information and Publicity Keyoungkhum Yimkhiung stated in the press release.
The background and the genesis of the Frontier Nagaland /Statehood Demand will be expounded in respective tribal vernacular languages, it added.
“At this crucial juncture on the backdrop of Frontier Nagaland/statehood demand, if any Organizations or individual(s) holding post in any frontal organization in any capacity trying to jeopardize the ultimate inspiration for Frontier Nagaland, the Federation will initiate a stringent action against the defaulters, in public domain (Sic),” it cautioned.
Meanwhile, during the session, former ENSF President Hawang T Wangsha is said to have enlightened the gathering on the chronology of the demand for Frontier Nagaland/ statehood and encouraged the federation to remain steadfast in pursuit of the ENPO resolution.
Incumbent ENSF President Chingmak Kumchuba Chang acknowledged the seven federating units for their consistent support to the call of the federation and urged them to robustly implement the resolution. He also asked them to remain vigilant and prepared for further course of actions to be initiated by the federation, according to the release.
