Nagaland’s Information Technology & Communication (IT&C), Economics & Statistics And Evaluation Advisor Sethrongkyu Sangtam today stressed on the need to combat cyber crimes and promote strong cyber security practices.
“Cyber security is not just a technical issue. It is a national priority,” he said, addressing two-day National Conference on Cybercrime, Digital Forensics & Intelligence, which begin here today at Capital Convention Centre, Kohima under the theme, “Cyber secure Bharat: Fortifying India’s digital future.
The Government is dedicated to creating a secure and resilient digital environment, he said, adding: “Our policies and initiatives aim to promote strong cyber security practices, encourages research development and build a skilled workforce to tackle digital challenges.”
In today’s world, cyber security is becoming more than ever, he said, adding that with our lives increasingly connected online, the threats to digital safety are also constantly growing.
“These threats can harm our national security, economy and public safety,” he underscored, while noting that ensuring cyber security is not just the government’s job, but a collective team effort by every stakeholders.
Industry leaders, academia and civil society must all work together to create a secure and trusted digital environment, he added.
Safer digital future
The IT&C Advisor further stressed that public-private partnerships are essential to drive innovation and enhance cyber defence capabilities.
To this end, he urged everyone to involve and work resiliently for the advancement of the national security and capability under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Stating that cyber security is an ongoing journey, he maintained that the threat landscape is “constantly changing and our strategies must evolve accordingly to tackle the ever evolving new challenges.”
“Let us strengthen our cyber security measures and build a safer digital future for our nation,” Sethrongkyu added.
“Together, we can create a secure and resilient digital environment for our nation.”
The conference, being jointly hosted by Union Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY); IT&C Nagaland ; Nagaland Police; and National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Kohima, will conclude on July 26.
Leaders from organisations such as the MeitY, Ministry of Home Affairs, IT&C, , NIELIT, Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Microsoft, The United Service Institution of India, Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAC), Deloitte India, PwC India, TCS, North Eastern Police Academy, Tripura State Forensics Science Laboratory, Central Forensic Science Laboratory Assam, Keystone Education Group, Punjab Police, State Forensic Science Laboratory Himachal Pradesh, Adrey Consultancy, and XIM University, have registered for the conference.
