Festivals are reminders of shared aspirations for peaceful and progressive society: Tovihoto

Zunheboto, November 16 (MExN): Ahuna, the post harvest festival of Sumi Naga community was celebrated at Viyilho village in Zunheboto district on November 14.

MLA & Advisor, Tribal Affairs and Election Department l, Government of Nagaland H Tovihoto Ayemi graced the festival celebration special guest. The event showcasing various cultural presentations was organised by Viyilho Baptist Church in the village ground.

Greeting the Sumi on the occasion, Tovihoto said Ahuna is not all about just a celebration but it is a tapestry of culture, history, and community spirit that weaves together all individuals as one people.

He pointed out that festivals such as Ahuna serve as reminders of shared and collective aspirations of the people for a peaceful and progressive society which is only possible when there is unity and brotherhood among the people. 

He urged the people of Viyilho to let unity and brotherhood prevail not only during festive time but at all times and set it as a good example for others and also encouraged the villagers to inspire one another with social and community actions which can pave way to shape out a brighter future for generations to come. 

He also dwelt on the age-old connection that exists between Viyilho village and Thahekhu village in Dimapur district and said that such relationships should be kept alive. 

People of Viyilho village accorded warm welcome to Tovihoto and the huge entourage that accompanied him.

The festival celebration was marked with ceremonial bonfire, folk songs and dances along with other traditional and cultural arts and games. This was stated in a press release issued by Media Cell for Advisor Tovihoto Ayemi.
