Farmers training held at Waromung village

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 20 (MExN): Waromung village, under Mangkolemba Block, Mokokchung district is one among the few villages which has been identified as a potential village for Sesame production. Therefore, the ICAR-AICRP on Sesame, NU: SAS, Medziphema campus organized one day farmers training and input distribution programme at Waromung village on November 18. Introductory remark was delivered by Dr AP Singh, PI of the project in which he highlighted the objective and importance of oilseeds for human health and the need of oilseed cultivation in Nagaland particularly in Mokokchung district. 

Distribution of Agri tools.

Prof L Tongpang Longkumer, former Head of the department of Agronomy made a presentation on the package and practices of Sesame cultivation. Farmers were also presented with small tools and farm implements which were given away by Imnanungsang Aier, the village council Chairman of Waromung village; while Invocatory prayer was delivered by Meren Mollier, Pastor of Waromung Baptist church. Altogether, 50 farmers attended the day long training programme.
