After an extensive meeting between the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) and the Eastern Nagaland Legislators’ Union (ENLU) on Wednesday, positive signals have emerged regarding the participation of its members in the upcoming Hornbill Festival scheduled from December 1 to 10.
Reliable sources informed The Morung Express that after a marathon-long meeting on November 22, the house finally decided to allow its members to participate in the festival.
When contacted, ENPO President Tsapikiu Sangtam confirmed the same to this newspaper and said that the decision was made during the meeting held at Tsithrongse village, Chümoukedima.
Without delving into details, he stated that the house had decided to lift the restriction, signalling a green light to its federating tribal units to participate.
“Those who wish to participate, they may do so,” Sangtam added.
This development follows a series of meetings between the ENPO and ENLU following the former’s initial announcement of abstaining from the festival officially christened as the ‘Festival of Festivals.’
The core issue revolved around the hardships faced by its members during previous editions of the festival as well as the issue of demand for separate administration.
