E-Space, a one-stop centre for innovation opens in Dimapur

E-Space, conceptualised as a space/destination for entrepreneurship, innovation, collaboration and technology was inaugurated in the presence of special guest, Mongkum Jamir, President of Business Association of Nagas (BAN) and other invitees at Oriental colony, adjacent to SBI Rangapahar branch Dimapur on November 21. 

The facility, an extension of Educentre, has been set through the initiative of its founder and CEO, Lezo Putsure and supported by Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) and Startup Nagaland. It consists of three floors, a cafe/food area (under the supervision of Chef Joel Basumatary as its food-consultant) conference hall and an exhibition area in the top floor. 

BAN President Jamir in his address stated the idea of wealth creation although a new concept has been steadily gaining foothold among the business community of Nagaland. “Today entrepreneurship stands for that,” he said. 

At the same time, he stressed on the need for Nagas to move away from dependence and reliance from outside “for which we need to think about spaces and avenues.”

“Our mindset needs to change in order to move forward. This place I believe is going to have ideas that flourishes for driving innovation,” he viewed. 
Er Keneirienuo Kire, Deputy Director of DIC meanwhile considered that in today’s world of start-ups, innovation is not a buzz-word but ‘a way of life.’

 She stated that businesses such as Educentre has been fostering an environment of change, creativity, collaboration and providing the space for start ups to flourish. 

Lezo Putsure, he explained that the idea of opening E-Space came about after realising the need for an avenue where young people can come together, share and discuss their ideas in a conducive manner. “We wanted to create this space for creativity to thrive,” he said. 

In addition, Putsure highlighted that it will also enable financial institutions such as SIDBI will be able to scout investible talents from Nagaland and provide them with the required guidance and support in their endeavours. 

Apart from that the facility boasts exhibition areas for both indoor and outdoor events, catering to the needs of social gatherings and enterprises as well. “So basically it is a one stop centre for institutions, banks or organisations to connect with each other,” he noted. 

Keeping this mind, Putsure mentioned that the exhibition and conference areas have been priced at affordable prices for those wanting to host events.  
E-Space will be managed by Sentirenla Changkiri Khamo, who brings experience from her time at JW Marriott. It will be opened weekdays from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. 

Under Educentre, they have so far contributed in the establishment of 27 start-ups, which in turn have generated about Rs 4 crores in valuation and provided over 100 jobs for the youths of Nagaland.
