DIMAPUR, APRIL 21 (MExN): Dr. Mughavi A. Tuccu from Satoi village in Zunheboto district was felicitated by the Vice President of India and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Jagdeep Dhankhar, for completing the Rajya Sabha Internship Programme (RSIP-1), Batch 6. The valedictory ceremony was held at the Vice President’s Enclave in New Delhi on April 17 in the presence of his wife, Sudesh Dhankhar, Rajya Sabha Secretary General P. C. Mody, Secretary Raji Punhani, and staff of the Parliament Secretariat.

Dr. Tuccu was the sole participant from the North East region among 32 interns selected from 11 Indian states. During the programme, he was attached to the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice, where he observed the legislative process up close. His research focused on the issue of delimitation, examining constitutional provisions, the need for amendments, current challenges, government responses, and a proposed roadmap for the future.

The internship programme was launched under the initiative of the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha to provide young professionals with a first-hand understanding of the workings of India’s parliamentary democracy. Over the course of the programme, interns interacted with Members of Parliament, Union Ministers, policy think tanks, and Parliament Secretariat officials.

Dr. Tuccu expressed his gratitude to Vice President Dhankhar, Member of Parliament S. Phangnon Konyak, his family, and the Government of India for the opportunity. “It has been a privilege to witness the legislative machinery of the country in motion,” he said.
