DIMAPUR, NOV 13 (NPN): Senior journalist and president of Dimapur Press Club (DPC) K.Filip Sumi passed away on Friday morning. He leaves behind his wife and a daughter.

Late Filip started his career in journalism at Nagaland Post in 2008 and after a few years, joined The Morung Express where he worked till the time of his demise. Messages of condolences poured out to the bereaved family from DIPR, DPC, Nagaland Post, KPC, and CP Dimapur.

DIPR: Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) expressed sorrow over the untimely demise of Filip Wotsa, who it said always stood in the forefront when it comes to welfare and wellbeing of media fraternity in the state.

In a condolence message, I&PR director Er. Z Tokishe Sema said late Filip was known as an active journalist who never shied away from his responsibilities. I&PR director said that the immense contributions and services he rendered for the growth and promotion of journalism in Nagaland was commendable. I&PR director also said that late Filip’s association with the media houses and the DIPR would be fondly cherished.

Er. Z Tokishe Sema prayed that Almighty God give solace and strength to his wife, daughter and loved ones at this hour of grief and sorrow.

DPC: Dimapur Press Club (DPC) expressed profound sadness over the untimely demise of its incumbent president K Filip Sumi and extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and the countless people whose life he touched in one way or the other.

In a condolence message, DPC said late Filip was a brilliant journalist—ever curious, ever seeking, and insatiable. DPC said he was someone the members of the press club looked up to, and with his presence, ideas, and sense of humour, he could brighten up any situation. It said he would be remembered for his unwavering willingness to take the lead despite the odds and at odd hours. “He lived with an infectious enthusiasm, making puns, being generous, and filled with brimming wisdom. As long as DPC remains, he will remain amongst us,” the message read.

Further, DPC said his brief but brilliant life would be remembered fondly today and forever, adding that his contributions as a journalist, a leader, a friend, and a colleague would “live on in our hearts.” DPC said “he will always be remembered with respect, admiration, and love, always! May his soul rest in eternal peace!”

NP: Nagaland Post expressed shock over the passing of K. Filip Sumi on Friday (November 12, 2021) at Faith Hospital, Dimapur.

In a condolence message, the Editor-in-Chief & Staff of Nagaland Post recalled that late Filip joined Nagaland Post in 2008 to begin his career in journalism. They described late Filip as sincere, hard working and a man of few words, who worked in Nagaland Post for around 5 years.

“We have had the opportunity of being acquainted with late Filip Sumi and though he has left, we will always remember him as a dedicated and pleasant personality,” the message stated.

Editor-in-Chief & Staff of Nagaland Post prayed that God Almighty, through the Holy Spirit, grant comfort and strength to the bereaved family to tide over the darkest hour of their lives. They also prayed that God grant everlasting peace to the departed soul.

CP Dimapur: Commissioner of Police (CP) Dimapur Rothihu Tetseo has expressed deep sadness and grief over the untimely demise of Filip Wotsa, and said late Filip’s work has left an indelible mark in the field of journalism and the vacuum would always be felt.

In a condolence note, CP Dimapur said late Filip was a renowned senior journalist of Nagaland, adding that his numerous contributions to Naga civil society was immeasurable.

CP Dimapur conveyed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed that the Almighty God grant solace to the family in this hour of grief.

NPA: Expressing deep grief over the passing away of K Filip Sumi, the Nagaland Press Association (NPA) said that his untimely demise has not only created a vacuum in his family, near and dear ones, but also the media fraternity of the state.

In a condolence message, NPA president H Chishi and general secretary Dilip Sharma said late Filip was a dedicated journalist who sincerely devoted himself to the cause of journalism and as the president of Dimapur Press Club, always worked for the welfare of his colleagues.

NPA shared the pain and grief with the family members of late Filip at this difficult hour and prayed to Almighty to comfort the bereaved family, and grant eternal rest to the departed soul.

KPC: Kohima Press Club (KPC) are deeply saddened over the untimely demise of Filip Sumi, senior journalist and president of Dimapur Press Club, who passed away on 12th November 2021 in Dimapur.

We remember Filip as an ardent journalist and a leader who was hard working and dedicated in what he did.

In his demise, the Kohima Press Club has lost not just a fellow journalist and a colleague, but also a friend.

We deeply mourn his passing and offer our most sincere condolences to his bereaved family members. May the Almighty God grant them solace at this difficult time.

MPC: Mokokchung Press Club (MPC) expressed grief over the untimely passing of fellow journalist Filip Wotsa, president of Dimapur Press Club.

In a condolence note, MPC president Limalenden Longkumer described late Filip as a responsible journalist and a great human being with a noble character, adding that his passing has left a vacuum that would be too difficult to fill.

MPC conveyed sympathy to the family and loved ones of Filip Wotsa and prayed that Almighty God grant them all divine strength and solace at this time of grief and sorrow.
