The Committee further informed that construction works for the bridge started in 2014 as part of the foothills road initiatives spearheaded by the Civil Society Organisations in 2013.

Further, under the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy CM, Y Patton, an additional funding to make the foothills road motor-able including the Doyang Bridge completion was initiaited in 2021, it said.

The Committee further expressed its view that the department concerned must reiterate its earlier notification in preserving the stone gravels atleast 1 kms on both up and downstreams of the Doyang River to safeguard the bridge from erosion.

It further impressed upon the District administration to ensure its implementation seriously.

The NFHRCC further informed that it will submit its observation of the inspection visit to the Department at the earliest and also urged upon the contractors of  Tizit and Mangkolemba Division  to start the  work as soon as possible.
