DIMAPUR, June 26: Department of Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) has accelerated its COVID-19 vaccination programme by reaching out to as many beneficiaries as possible across the state. The department along with respective District Task Force (DTF) for COVID have been organising special vaccination drives in an effort to achieve 100% vaccination of first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
Persons with disabilities vaccinated in Dimapur: A special COVID-19 vaccination camp for persons with disabilities under Dimapur district was organised by office of the District Welfare Officer (DWO) Dimapur Friday at CVC, District Hospital Dimapur.
At the programme, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dimapur, Dr. I Moatemjen while deliberating on the importance of vaccination said at present the only effective way to combat COVID was vaccination.
Urging people to get vaccinated as several data have proven that it lowers mortality rate, he said Nagaland registered more deaths during the second wave of COVID-19than the first wave. He added that most of the COVID victims were those who were not vaccinated.
Dr. Moatemjen also urged people to follow COVID appropriate behaviours and the Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) laid down by the government and medical department.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Dimapur, H Atokhe Aye said vaccination drive for people with disabilities, who are eligible to get vaccinated, was being organised in every block of Dimapur.
He appealed those who could not get vaccinated to contact their respective medical officers and get vaccinated at the earliest.
In case of third wave of COVID-19 hitting Nagaland, Atokhe said the government along with district administration and medical department was ready. However, he said the virus could only be mitigated by the public by following COVID guidelines and SOPs.
Nagaland State Disability Forum, general secretary, Ashe Kiba while taking the department for organising the special vaccination drive encouraged people with disabilities to come forward and get vaccinated. Altogether 36 persons with disabilities were vaccinated. (Staff Reporter)
Vaccination drive at Kohima village: Kohima Village Task Force on COVID-19 in collaboration with Medical Officer (MO) Kohima Village Public Health Centre (PHC) conducted vaccination drive amongst the four Khels and colonies within Kohima Village from June 14-18 and on June 25.
According to DIPR report, a total of 2,754 beneficiaries from the age category of 18-44 years, 45+ and 60+ years were vaccinated during the vaccination drives.
Sapotimi village claims 100% vaccination: Sapotimi Village, under Suruhuto Block, Zunheboto has claimed 100% vaccination of all the eligible beneficiaries.
In a press release, office of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Zunheboto informed that a medical team conducted vaccination drives on April 13, June 6 and June 23 to vaccinate a total of 187 beneficiaries.
Surge in COVID cases; Peren DC convenes meeting: In view of the rapid surge in the number of COVID-19 positive cases in the district and the urgent need for taking necessary measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the district, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peren, Sentiwapang Aier has convened a meeting on June 28, 12 noon at the Conference Hall of DC Peren.
The DC has asked all district task force members; all district COVID vaccination committee members; Kuki Inphi, Peren; Zeliangrong Students Union, Nagaland; Zeme Baptist Church Council; Liangmai Baptist Church Council and ZMO to send a representative to the meeting.
Intensified vaccination drive in Kiphire: District Task Force (DTF) Kiphire on COVID-19 has informed that an intensified COVID-19 vaccination drive would be carried out on June 28, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Zisaji Presidency Government College, Kiphire. DTF has informed all beneficiaries (18-44 years and 45 years above) to avail the opportunity and that they could opt for spot registration by providing an identity proof.

Relief packages distributed at Aboi Town: Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) Longching, Cthitu Nienu Friday distributed relief packages to needful families and person affected by the COVID-19 lockdown under Aboisub-division.
According to DIPR report, the relief packages were arranged by the district disaster management authority.
Kiphire Bn create awareness on COVID: Kiphire battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North) Friday organised an interaction with village elders of Limstang village, Kiphire.
According to Assam Rifles, the troops created awareness on prevention from COVID 19 pandemic and encouraged people to get vaccinated.
