Nagaland Minister of Higher Education and Tribal Affairs Temjen Imna Along Longkumer on Sunday urged communities of the state who would be celebrating Diwali soon, to celebrate the essence of the festival of light by lighting up the homes of those who are going through darkness.

Addressing the ‘Diwali Mela’ organized by Lions Club of Dimapur at Lions Centre as special guest, the Minister lauded the club for their good work in Dimapur especially during difficult times like the COVID-19 pandemic. Urging them to continue the good work, he asked the attendants to do good without thinking about recognition.

He noted that non-Nagas complain about difficulties in Nagaland and often intend to relocate to places like Khatkhati. No one can say that life can be without difficulties and therefore, they should strive to make their “karmbhumi (work land)” better, accept each other, and think for each other as fellow Indians, he advised.

On the occasion he also lauded the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and claimed that there were no visionary leaders of that stature in India before Modi. He maintained that the PM is known and trusted by all across the country.

As part of the event, prizes were also distributed to the winners of the 35th Peace Poster Contest which was held on October 1, and organized by Lions Club of Dimapur and Lions Club of Blue Venda.
