DNSU urges constructive engagement for redeveloping Dimapur Railway Station

Dimapur, March 15 (MExN): The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has called for a collective effort by all stakeholders to ensure the smooth implementation of the Dimapur Railway Station redevelopment project under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

Emphasising the long-term benefits of the initiative, DNSU urged landowners and stakeholders to engage constructively and prioritise the greater good.

In a statement, DNSU highlighted that as Nagaland’s only railway station, Dimapur Railway Station plays a crucial role in the state’s connectivity, economic development, and overall progress.

The proposed redevelopment is expected to modernise infrastructure, improve travel efficiency, boost tourism, and create employment opportunities for the local population.

“A world-class railway station will serve as a testament to Nagaland’s progress, fostering a renewed sense of pride and placing our state firmly on the national map,” it added.

While acknowledging the complexities surrounding land acquisition and the concerns of those affected, DNSU urged all stakeholders—particularly landowners—to take a broader view of the long-term benefits this project will bring.

“Development often requires collective sacrifice, but it also yields collective rewards,” it stressed.

Thus, the union urged stakeholders to engage in meaningful and solution-driven discussions with the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) and the Dimapur district administration for fair and just compensation mechanisms that uphold the interests of all parties.

“Prioritise the greater good over individual constraints, recognising that progress for one is progress for all,” it added.

With cooperation and dialogue, an equitable resolution can be reached—one that balances development with fairness, DNSU held, further noting that bureaucratic hurdles or short-term obstacles should not be allowed to derail the vision of a modern and thriving Nagaland.

Encouraging the public to support the initiative, it emphasised that a world-class railway station would enhance Nagaland’s standing and serve as a gateway to new opportunities.

The union urged all concerned parties to work together to ensure the successful execution of the redevelopment project.
