It has alleged the Health & Family Welfare Department of illegally occupying three classrooms at the Government Middle School, Midland.  As reported earlier, it said that the H&FW has been operating a dispensary using the classrooms of the GMS, Midland, despite an order from the Department of School Education Department to vacate the premises by July 5, 2024.

The union had last served a 7-day ultimatum to the H&FW Department on February 18, which it followed up with a peaceful demonstration outside the said school on February 19.

With no follow up action from the H&FW, the DNSU locked up the dispensary on Friday after ushering the employees out.

DNSU President, Hinoto P Aomi justified the action stating that it had previously served two ultimatums to the H&FW, which were not responded to. He flayed what he termed as encroachment of an educational institution by a government entity. He cautioned against opening the locked dispensary without any positive step from the H&FW Department.

The ‘Notice’ put up by the DNSU at the locked door read, “The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has sealed this classroom due to unauthorised occupation by the Health Department. Despite our prior ultimatum, the department has failed to vacate the premises.”

It demanded immediate restoration of the allegedly illegally occupied rooms for its intended purpose.

“Until the issue is discussed and resolved, the dispensary shall remain closed,” it said, while warning of stringent measures against any individual, organization or authority attempting to open the dispensary “without prior consultation and resolution with DNSU.”
