Dmr police destroys narcotic and drugs worth Rs 18 crore

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 18 (MExN): The Drugs Disposal Committee (DCC) of Police Commissionerate, Dimapur headed by Commissioner of Police, Dimapur Kevithuto Sophie, carried out pre-trail destruction of seized narcotic and psychotropic drugs on October 17 at DMC dumping ground in the presence of DCP Dimapur, DCP Chümoukedima, SP (Crime) PHQ, District Administration and representatives from civil societies. 

Seized drugs such as heroin, ganja, opium, spasmo proxyvon, crystal meth, WY tablets, sunflower, brown sugar, areca nuts, and cough syrup were destroyed as per the provision of Section 52A of NDPS Act after representative samples drawn in the presence of Chief Judicial Magistrate Dimapur along with photographic images recorded after duly verifying the weight of the seized drugs to be destroyed. The drugs disposed were related to 82 NDPS cases registered between the years 2018-2022.

According to a press release received from Dy Commissioner of Police & PRO (Crime), Dimapur, drugs destroyed on Tuesday amounted to more than Rs 18 crore in market value. 

This include 1,793 kilos of ganja, 3,208 grams of heroin, 1,792 grams of brown sugar, 1,87,482 capsules of spasmo proxyvon, 2,41,000 WY tablets. 870 grams of sunflower, 747 bottles of cough syrup, 259 bags of areca nuts, 3 kilo of opium and 883 grams of crystal meth.
