DIMAPUR, JAN 5 (NPN) : As part of its first phase agitation (Day-2), for creation of a full-fledged Shamator district, the Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC) on Tuesday imposed several restrictions including indefinite shutdown of Likimro Hydro Electric Project.

In a public notice issued Tuesday, YTC executive chairman Y. Makezho informed that the council has prohibited government officials, researchers/tourists (both domestic and international) from visiting the Fakim Wildlife Sanctuary, Mt. Saramati, stone caves at Mimi and Salomi and suspended all activities at the aforementioned sites indefinitely.

YTC further informed that individuals/officials stationed at the sites are asked to withdraw/exit within 24 hours form the date of issue of the public notice.

The council said that the decision was necessitated in resentment against the state government’s failure to declare Shamator as a district.

Meanwhile, Fakim Village Student’s Union, in pursuance to the directive (Public Notice) of Yimkhiung Tribal Council has informed all concern to abide by the directive till further order from the apex tribal body.

Informing this in a press note, FVSU president Tsuseki and general secretary Lethreyam cautioned that in the event of any untoward incident, FVSU would not be held responsible.
