A train rammed a car on an unsanctioned rail crossing in Dimapur on July 16. There was no casualty however. The car was reportedly crossing over from one side to the other when its chassis got trapped on the track rendering it immobile.
As per the police, there was no occupant in the car when it was rammed and dragged some few metres along the track by the train.
The place of occurrence was an unofficial crossing which serves as a shortcut from Thahekhu village to Kuda village, falling in between the Rangpahar Crossing and the IOC depot.
The Dimapur unit of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) informed that it got information of the incident at around 11:30 am. The Officer-incharge of the Dimapur RPF unit, BK Yadav said that RPF personnel immediately responded to the scene to find the mangled remains of a car at an unauthorised crossing.
Yadav said that the occupant/driver of the car was still to be identified, while a case was registered with the local police and investigation was on.
