Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, JUN 20 (NPN): Following the announcement of total ban on the movements of individuals/vehicles from 4 pm till 5am starting June 19-30, the Dimapur police Saturday began to strictly enforce the restriction on movement in Dimapur.
Commissioner of Police (CP) Dimapur Rothihu Tetseo told Nagaland Post that the district witnessed strict enforcement of complete lockdown with the police cracking down heavily on violators. CP said that police personnel were patrolling all major traffic intersections in the city to keep a check on people coming out on the streets without valid reasons. He said that barricades have been put up in various parts of the town.
He also said that police personnel were being placed at main junctions around the town.
As per the SOP issued by the government and DC Dimapur, CP said that vehicles were stopped in various junctions and accordingly conducted thorough check. However, no vehicle had been penalized till the time of filing this report.
CP has cautioned that violation of the restriction order would be penalized under section 177 and 179 of the MV Act 1988. CP reiterated that those exempted categories must carry identity card issued by respective HoD.
Meanwhile, DC Dimapur rajesh Soudararajan has extended his appreciation to the public for extending the support and sought further cooperation.
Days after the High Powered Committee (HPC) on Covid-19 decided to further extend the ongoing State-wide lockdown till June 30, the DC Dimapur on June 18 notified that the revised lockdown measures with the additional provisions would remain in force in Dimapur district from June 19-30, 2021.
DC Dimapur had cautioned that any person violating the order would be penalized as per the provision of the Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005 besides legal action under Section 188 of the IPC.
