Dedication and launching ceremony for T01 (Doyang) to Mangmetong Road Under PMGSY

A dedication and launching program for the construction of the T01 (Doyang) to Mangmetong Road under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) was held today at Sungro Town Community Hall. The event was graced by Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor for Agriculture and MLA of the constituency.

Yanthan highlighted that the project, spanning 36 kilometres and valued at Rs 46 crore, will traverse five districts and pass through significant landmarks including the Amur Falcon capital of the world and the Doyang Hydro Project. He emphasised that the road represents more than mere convenience and connectivity; it is a transformative project poised to enhance regional relationships and foster holistic development.

In his address, Yanthan also expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for his pivotal support in bringing this project to fruition. He also acknowledged the contributions of Er. Imnameren Imchen, Executive Engineer and PMGSY Kohima in-charge, and the department.

Er. Imnameren Imchen, who also spoke at the event, appealed to landowners to voluntarily donate their land for the project, noting that PMGSY does not provide compensation. He encouraged the community to consider the long-term benefits of the road for all.

The program was chaired by Thechamo Ngullie, Chairman of the Sungro Range Council’s Union, and included a welcome note by the Chairperson. Short speeches were delivered by Abel P. Shohe, Proprietor of M/s. LPSS Infra, and representatives from the R & B Department, as well as village representatives from Mangmetong, Longkhum, Okotso, and Pangti.

The dedicatory prayer was led by Rev. Manglio Ngullie, Pastor of Pangti Baptist Church, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Rakhomo Jami, Chairman of Pangti Village Council.
