SET DEADLINE FOR GOVT RESPONSE TILL OCT 11
Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, OCT 9 (NPN): Core Committee of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) against shifting of DC office Dimapur on Saturday has demanded a “written order” cancelling the September 7 notification for gradual shifting of the offices.
The committee has further set October 11 deadline for the government to reply. In the event of government’s failure to respond, the core committee said a sitting would be held to deliberate on the future course of action. Briefing media persons, core committee’s spokesperson said it (committee) has not received any such notification till date.
He clarified that committee was not demanding to keep on hold the decision to shift, but cancellation of the very plan/order. He said the committee cautioned that until it received such an official order from the state government through notification, the ongoing agitation would continue.
The committee also threatened it would launch a phase-wise agitation that will be intensified if its demand was not met.
Asked whether the core committee was ready to sit across table, if invited, the spokesperson responded in the affirmative.
Since DDCF had already submitted a memorandum to the chief minister’s office, the spokesperson said it was the duty of the government to invite the core committee to have a sitting. “When it is citizens duty to show resentment, it is the prerogative of the government invite us and listen to the voice and sit across the table and discuss,” he stated. He also said that the government was “irresponsive on this matter.”
He also reminded the state government of the memorandum submitted, in which the committee demanded removal of the tag “HQ: Chümoukedima; Camp: Dimapur”.
The spokesperson reiterated that the committee was not against new post creation of ADC, EAC and posting of sub-treasury office at DC Complex Chümoukedima, but will not allow any cell, files or branches to be shifted elsewhere from the present DC office.
