Celebrating talent and creativity in commemoration of the World Art Day, The Art Village, Kohima is organising a three-day students’ exhibition-cum-sale on the theme ‘Floral’ which kicked off this morning.
Gracing the inauguration of the exhibition as special guest, Lichan Humtsoe, CEO and Founder Ete Coffee, encouraged the young artists to not just confine their talents to the canvas and brush, adding that creativity and innovations has no periphery.
Sharing his experience as an enthusiastic musician, the young entrepreneur advised the students to build a ‘strong foundation’ lest it will wear one down along the way. “One can only think out of the box if one has a strong and solid foundation,” said Humtsoe.
However, he also reminded that to explore and think outside the box, one must fully explore and nail what is within the box in order to create and manifest their soul and story into an art form.
At the same time, Humtsoe also requested the parents not to discourage their children from pursuing their interests in art which he pointed will open doors to many opportunities. While conventional education is crucial, he also reminded that unconventional education will encourage and propel the kids to go beyond the pre-programme plans in life.
Meanwhile, he emphasised on the importance of advertisement and marketing by being creative and innovative in the form of designing, packaging etc with revolutionalised technology.
Mhao Aaron Odyuo, Director of The Art Village said “Art is everywhere, it is how you see it” and added that art is a profession and is a source of livelihood for anyone who has the interest and creativity to pursue it.
He informed that 19 students are participating in the three-day exhibition-cum-sales which will culminate on April 17.
The Art Village (creative Art school) was opened three years ago to encourage creativity and independence in children. Today, it has 24 students and expanding two branches in Kohima.
