3 new dist hospitals to come up soon
State Health minister S Pangnyu Phom Monday inaugurated a 50-bedded Covid-19 hospital at the District Hospital Dimapur.
The hospital, completed within a span of 45 days, was developed with support from Novo Nordisk Foundation, Embassy of Denmark, C-CAMP Bengaluru and Invest India AGNli Mission, under the guidance of the office of principal scientific adviser to Government of India.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, health minister S Pangnyu Phom described the day as a significant day for people of Dimapur in particular and the state as a whole. He said Nagaland had been tackling Covid-19 pressing in all manpower, facilities and resources along with the rest of the world to overcome the crisis.
“We have lost many good lives and everything was badly affected by this unprecedented virus. However, we have never given up our fight in this battle which is still on,” he said. During such hard times, Phom said many companies, organisations and well-wishers had come forward in contributing medical equipment and numerous help and support.
He said the Covid hospital was one of the most required and needed facilities to cater to people’s need.
With all advanced equipment in place, he said the hospital would enable timely care and proper treatment. Pangnyu acknowledged Novo Nordisk Foundation for philanthropic funding in providing such well-equipped hospital. He also appreciated office of principal scientific adviser for selecting Dimapur for this Mega Project and all involved for the successful completion.
Asserting that COVID-19 was a disaster in many fields, the minister, however, maintained that it had paved ways to focus and invest more in health sector by state government and health department.
With the help of donors and givers, and also from assistance of Centre, Phom said health infrastructure in the State had been drastically improved.
He said that the state would remain indebted to donors and facilitators of the 50-bedded COVID-19 Hospital and would continue to partner in all forms of activity with fullest cooperation and coordination by state government and health department in the near future. He assured that the institution would be taken proper care to serve purpose of the people.
Further, health minister disclosed that three new district hospital buildings at Zunheboto, Noklak and Longleng would be coming up in due course of time. “All these developments would be an asset and great help for Humanity and needy people,” Phom said.
Delivering a short virtual speech, Ambassador, Royal Danish Embassy New Delhi, Freddy Svane, stated that building hospital infrastructure in remote areas was important and acknowledged all those involved in the newly inaugurated covid hospital.
He expressed hope that the hospital will pave the way to work together for future benefits of everyone.
Counsellor Innovation, Royal Danish Embassy New Delhi, Dr. Jakob Williams Oerberg, in his brief address, stated that the project of building the Covid hospital in Dimapur was a way of showing that everyone needed to work together to curb Covid.
Short speeches were delivered by chief technology officer, office of principal scientific adviser to the Government of India, Mudit Narain and deputy commissioner Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan. C-Camp Bengaluru, Uttam Bhattacharyya, presented technical report.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by chief medical officer (CMO) Dimapur, Dr. I Moatemjen, dedicatory prayer was offered by chaplain, DHD, Rev. Yhunlo Thong, and vote of thanks was proposed by medical superintendent, DHD, Dr. Khrielasanuo.
