Kohima | May 8 (MExN): Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Union Minister of State (I/C) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Dr Jitendra Singh have inquired about the status of COVID-19 in Nagaland and assured all assistance, Chief Minister Nephiu Rio said on Friday.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Rio said that Modi called to inquire about the status of COVID-19 in the state and assured his assistance.
The 3 Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) oxygen plants which are being installed in the districts of Dimapur, Kohima and Mokokchung are from the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES) Fund, he said.
“I’m grateful for his concern & help for Nagaland,” he added.
Meanwhile, in another update, Rio also expressed gratitude DoNER Minister Singh for calling up and inquiring about the status of COVID19 and its management in the state.
I thank him and greatly appreciate his concern for Nagaland, he added.
The updates from the Chief Minister assumed significance against the backdrop of huge political controversy triggered by call between Prime Minister Modi and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday.
Reportedly, Soren described the call as Modi’s “Mann Ki Baat”, instead of business, leading to political spar between the opposition and ruling camp.
Earlier on Friday, Rio waded into the controversy and maintained that in his experience as a Chief Minister for several tenures, Prime Minister Modi was always “sensitive to the concerns of the states.”
He has always been sensitive to the concerns of the states, particularly of the Northeast states. I disagree with Chief Minister Soren on the issue and I hope he retracts his statement, he added.
