DIMAPUR, AUG 22 (NPN) : Despite decline in the weekly positivity rate in the state, there has been an increase in Covid-19 related hospitalization and deaths as compared to the previous weeks.
According the weekly bulletin released by the Health (H&FW) department on Saturday, there were 76 hospitalizations (August 14-20) as compared to the previous week- 69 hospitalization between August 7-13. The state also witnessed a slight increase in the number of deaths at 15 (August 14-20) as compared to the previous week which stood at 12. Among the 15 fatalities– seven each were from Kohima and Dimapur and one in Mokokchung.
Weekly positivity rate: Though the state’s weekly sample positivity rate dropped to 4%, two districts reported weekly positivity rate of more than 5%– Kohima (10%) and Mokokchung (9%).
Meanwhile, out of 11,053 samples were tested during the week, 446 new cases were recorded and 15 deaths. The department said that this year, the maximum number of Covid-19 deaths were observed in the age group of 46–60-years at 33%. However, most number of confirmed cases are from the 21–30-year age group (26%).
Vaccination: A total of 8.27 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered across the state in 10,549 vaccination sessions. Dimapur, Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung and Mon were among the top five districts with the highest coverage.
State logs 72 fresh cases: Nagaland on Sunday recorded 72 fresh Covid-19 positive cases and nil deaths. Of the fresh cases, 34 were from Kohima, Dimapur-25, six in Mokokchung, three in Phek, two in Peren and one each in Tuensang and Wokha, taking the total caseload to 29554.
