A COVID-19 patient in District Hospital Tuensang passed away on April 23 .
According to sources, the deceased was around 33 years of age and had reportedly arrived in Tuensang from another State with his wife to attend a wedding.
The man had reportedly developed some symptoms on arrival and was isolating for some days, CMO Tuensang informed The Morung Express on Friday. By the time he came to the hospital, it was nearly 10 days since his arrival, he added.
According to the hospital officials the patient came to the hospital with fever, cough and difficulty in breathing on Tuesday.
After COVID-19 confirmation, he was immediately shifted to ICU and treatment was started. However, the patient’s blood oxygen level was already too low and the doctors could not save his life. He passed away on Friday around 5 in the morning.
The CMO informed that the hospital is trying to ascertain the medical history and underlying diseases of the patient, if any.
Meanwhile, after a prayer by the Chaplain of the hospital church, the body was cremated at Tuensang crematorium with proper SOPs.
89 new COVID-19 cases in Nagaland
DIMAPUR, APRIL 23 (MExN): The rise in COVID-19 cases continues in Nagaland with 89 positive cases detected in the State on April 23. This was out of 456 test results received on the day.
The Health Department informed that the new cases include 85 in Dimapur and 4 in Kohima. 1 patient from Kohima has recovered from the infection.
The new cases comprise of 1 from the armed forces/security personnel (from Dimapur), 48 returnees (46 from Dimapur and 2 from Kohima), 39 traced contacts (37 from Dimapur and 2 from Kohima), and 1 frontline worker (from Dimapur).
The total caseload of the State now stands at 12,889. Meanwhile a total of 12,117 people have recovered and there are now 456 active cases in the State.
The Health Department’s Bulletin informed that 411 of the patients are asymptomatic, 31 have mild symptoms, 10 have moderate symptoms requiring oxygen, and 4 have severe symptoms requiring oxygen.
