Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio was optimistic that the NDPP-BJP alliance will win around 45-50 seats while the other national political parties contesting the state polls will vanish after election like migratory birds.
“Our policy is to work together towards making Nagaland a state of excellence so that Nagaland will become a perfect picture of progress and development,” Rio said while campaigning for the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party’s (NDPP) candidate R Khing on Friday.
Speaking during the public rally at RSA ground, Rio, who is the chief star campaigner of the NDPP, said that during Khing’s tenure, lots of development has taken place while still more is to be done. He told the electorate that they should send their representative to be in the next government if they want to fasten the pace of development in the new district.
“The next elected member should be in the government to bring more development and it is NDPP’s official candidate R Khing,” he said, adding that there were many Party ticket seekers but the final decision was to field Khing as the party has trust on him and the electorate. Rio was confident that the next government will be formed by the NDPP-BJP alliance.
Tseminyu was declared as the 13th district of the State in December 2021 and inaugurated by Rio early last year.
Rio also said that NDPP is a party with regional in character, national in outlook and dimension and global in vision specially focused on the welfare of Naga youth and therefore the election motto this time is “Nagaland: Towards a State of Excellence”.
He also explained that the NDPP was brought about as a regional party in order to protect the rich culture and tradition of the Nagas as the Naga People’s Front (NPF) which he himself revived in 2003 had failed to do so following the NPF leaders taking up self interest over the Naga interest.
Rio maintained that the BJP has been growing from strength to strength and is already campaigning for next Lok Sabha elections and despite such powers, it was BJP which proposed to partner on seat sharing basis with NDPP out of respect for the Naga people.
In his speech, R Khing appealed to the electorates to give him another chance to represent them in the 14th house of the state assembly and accelerate the pace of development in Tseminyu district.
Touching on Tseminyu district which was created last year, he called upon the electorate to take a wise decision in this election as infrastructural development can be possible only through the platform of the ruling government.
He said that politics is to do with clear mind and experiences, adding that politics represents development, empowerment and economic development.
Stating that a single person remains a minority in any platform and cannot do anything, he called upon the people to come forward and unitedly work for common cause.
In his election manifesto, he announced that he would pursue and expedite the establishment and construction of various government departments to be functional in the district and empower the youth through sports, music and entrepreneurship. He also said special focus would be given to creation of start-ups for the unemployed youths and rural womenfolk, creation of livelihood oriented job roles through skill development, and upgrade of the health care facilities across Tseminyu.
Speeches were also delivered by NDPP star campaigner Benjamin Lorin and NDPP Tseminyu Region working president Isaac Apon. The programme was chaired by NDPP Tseminyu region president Daniel Tep while NDPP youth organization vice president John Semy proposed vote of thanks.
