Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said the state government has been extending help in the form of funds to many organisations but the funds are often not used in the best possible way or as intended.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Nagaland State Bharat Scouts & Guides golden jubilee building at the State Headquarters, Bayavü, Kohima on August 19, Rio who is also the Patron said, it is the bounden duty of the government to extend help. However, he observed “money is given to many organisations but it doesn’t come to best use and also creates misunderstandings.”

Appreciating and congratulating the NSBS&G for the new building, he opined that as part of the international movement to serve humanity they should continue to do good works with greater zeal and new vigour.

Stating that ‘it is more blessed to give than to receive’ Rio urged the members, particularly the youths, to be the ‘weapon to do good things’ and carry this message to those who are misguided and misled in the society.

As Nagaland is still knows as a ‘disturbed land’ with the draconian law AFSPA in place, he urged the youths to propagate peace and harmony in the state as they continue their mission of serving humanity for a vibrant and responsible society.

He expressed hope that more students and youths will take interest and join as members in the future, especially with the creation of new districts. Neikha also emphasised on the need of ‘quantitative and qualitative’ organisation to be at par with the rest of the states in the country.

The Advisor also advised the scouts and guides to be ‘pathfinders of the society and beacons of encouragement and guidance’ for the people in the society.

He was also optimistic that with the new building, the students will gain the much needed environment to promote and practice their tasks to boost their pride and loyalty to the people of Nagaland.

Presenting a brief note on the construction of jubilee building, K Neibou Sekhose, convenor, construction committee informed that the new building comprises an administrative block, jubilee hall with a capacity of 150 persons, a library, dining hall, 6 rooms for accommodation, rain harvesting with reservoir tank of 10 thousand litres capacity and a Naga-style kitchen.
